Join us for a day of fun, fellowship and a bit of hard work as we continue to develop the Barbara C. Harris Camp & Conference Center.  Be a part of our Annual Volunteer Work Day on May 14, 2011.

The day provides opportunities for you and members of your church to join others from the diocese in providing hands-on support to this important ministry.  Whatever your skills or interests, you'll find opportunities to make an important contribution to the future of the camp.  Whether it be with a paint brush or a hammer, a rake or broom, or just lending a helping hand, you can make a difference.

What will we be doing?

The camp has a number of important projects that it could use help with. Some of these include:

  • Building hiking trails
  • Painting cabin exteriors
  • Constructing canoe and kayak storage racks
  • Cleaning buildings closed for the winter
  • Adding mulch to the low and high ropes courses
  • Building a new campfire area

Can our church group pick a particular project for the Work Day?

If you are coming as part of a church group and have a particular idea in mind or specialized skills you'd like to contribute, we'd be happy to work with you to find just the right project.  Call us at (603) 547-3400 to discuss.

What should we bring?

Volunteers are encouraged to bring basic
hand tools (hammers, handsaws, etc.) and garden tools (rakes, shovels, etc.)  Those with the proper skills and experience are also encouraged to bring power tools such as drills, circular saws and chainsaws. Everyone should come dressed to work outdoors and bring along work gloves.

When is the Work Day?

Saturday, May 14, 2011

8:00 AM:  Free breakfast in dining room
9:00 AM:  Work throughout the camp.
6:00 PM:  Wrap up; barbeque at the lake

How do I sign-up to attend?

In order to prepare for the event, the camp needs to know how many people will be participating. We ask that you let us know you're coming no later than April 29, 2011. You can do so by giving us a call at (603) 547-3400 or by e-mail at info@bchcenter.org.

Can anyone attend?

We'd welcome the help of anyone of wants to participate. However, we do ask that youth be supervised by their parents or adults from their church.

Can we spend the night?

Yes, this is not only a great chance to contribute to the Camp & Conference Center, but also to spend the night and enjoy our great facilities and setting. Volunteers can spend the night in one of our cabins on either Friday or Saturday evening for only $10 per person. Space is limited and is available on a first come, first served basis.
